Summer break
The Chapel Choir is now on its summer break.
Below is a recap of our final concert of the year, as we look forward to new events in the 2026-27 academic year – check back here in September for news.
English Music Festival
Saturday 23rd May 2026
Closing out an incredible year of concerts, the Chapel Choir performed at the in May, at Dartington Hall in Devon.
We brought a superb programme of English choral music, the highlight of which was undoubtedly the world premiere of Edgar Bainton’s ‘To The Name Above Every Name’.
We were honoured to be approached by the English Music Festival and the Edgar Bainton Society, who asked the choir to premiere the piece. With a 27-minute run time, this was a mammoth piece to prepare, but equally an enriching opportunity for the choir to shape a performance entirely from scratch, hopefully setting the tone for future performances.
Thank you to the English Music Festival for having us, the Edgar Bainton Society for entrusting us with this wonderful piece, and especially to Howard Ionascu for conducting.
