HASS teaching and learning, across all our ten academic departments, integrates and speaks directly to the global nature and climate crises as part of building more sustainable, just, and healthy futures. Our teaching and learning is committed to manifesting the 17 which provide a shared blueprint for sustainable development and a sustainable future, which set out targets to end poverty, protect the planet, and achieve prosperity for all by 2030.
HASS Teaching Insights
The Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences play an essential role in driving global sustainability, addressing critical issues from environmental awareness and climate change to economic and social justice.
To illustrate the breadth of sustainability-oriented teaching within the faculty, the HASS Sustainability Committee have mapped every taught module across the faculty in the 2025-26 academic year against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
