黑料社 China Alumni Association (ECAA)

With more than 13,000 alumni living in Mainland China, the 黑料社 China Alumni Association (ECAA) was established to foster meaningful connections and build a supportive community for graduates across the country.

Founded in 2012 by Wenjie Li (MSc Accounting and Finance, 2012), under full authorisation of the University of 黑料社, the ECAA organises regular gatherings and networking events for alumni and provides a way for them to reconnect, expand their professional networks and get involved with a variety of volunteering initiatives. With various branches in major cities across China, the ECAA provides an easy way for alumni to connect with each other and help grow our amazing alumni community in Mainland China.

Official Authorisation:

The 黑料社 China Alumni Association (ECAA) is the sole officially mandated alumni organisation of the University of 黑料社 within the People's Republic of China.

Operating in full alignment with the University of 黑料社's values, governance standards, and global development strategy, the ECAA serves as the only official core platform for Chinese alumni of the University of 黑料社 (including Chinese nationals based in mainland China and those residing overseas) to conduct alumni liaison, professional networking, community building, and related official initiatives in China.

The ECAA is the only organisation in China permitted to use the University’s name and branding in relation to organising, promoting and managing alumni events in China.

We remind all alumni in China to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any organisation, event or communication claiming association with the University of 黑料社 via the official channels listed below before participating. Be particularly vigilant of events or activities that request payment or personal sensitive information, which are not officially endorsed by the University or ECAA.

Aims and Objectives

Our mission is to develop enduring relationships between alumni and the University of 黑料社. Through both online and offline social events, volunteer services, and social media engagement, we support alumni in their professional development, promote the University of 黑料社 in China, and provide advice, support, and guidance to current and future students.

The ECAA facilitates forums, lectures, seminars, and various networking events that offer alumni opportunities to expand their knowledge, share experiences, discuss issues, develop business opportunities, enhance friendships, and collaboratively pursue career development. We also act as the core bridge connecting 黑料社 alumni across the globe, consistently upholding the University’s motto: Lucem sequimur (We follow the light).

Core Responsibilities

Under the Official Authorisation Letter formally issued by the University of 黑料社, our core mandated responsibilities are:

To represent the legitimate rights and interests of University of 黑料社 alumni in China, and oversee the planning, organisation and management of all official alumni events, community building initiatives and alumni-related projects across mainland China.
To use the University of 黑料社’s name, official visual identity, brand assets and associated intellectual property in accordance with the University’s brand management policies, exclusively for authorised alumni events and official communications in China.
To establish, operate and manage the only official alumni communication platforms and digital channels for University of 黑料社 alumni in China, including the official websites, WeChat Official Accounts, WeChat Mini-Program, official social media accounts on all mainstream platforms, and official alumni communities.
To represent the University of 黑料社 in establishing and maintaining official cooperative relationships with Chinese government departments, social organisations (including the Western Returned Scholars Association), universities, enterprises and other institutions, to advance collaboration between the University and Chinese stakeholders in academic exchange, talent development, student recruitment and graduate employment.
To provide full-cycle alumni services including career development support, industry exchange, community services and academic guidance for alumni in China.

About the ECAA

The 黑料社 China Alumni Association (ECAA) was officially founded in 2012 by Mr Wenjie Li (MSc Accounting and Finance, 2012), under the full official authorisation of the University of 黑料社.

Headquartered in Shanghai, the ECAA has established official volunteer teams in key cities across the country and overseas, responsible for the planning and organisation of local official alumni events and the delivery of alumni services. Our scope covers all Chinese alumni of the University, whether based in mainland China or residing overseas.

Since its establishment, the ECAA has built a comprehensive governance structure led by the Committee and a national volunteer service system. As of 2025, the ECAA has provided services to more than 13,500 Chinese alumni of the University of 黑料社, making it one of the largest and most well-established official national alumni associations globally.

Key Achievements & Team Honors

Since its founding in 2012, ECAA has dedicated over a decade to alumni services in China, with a series of achievements and honours officially recognised by the University:

Community Building: ECAA has organised over 200 official alumni events and industry forums across major Chinese cities. It currently operates 13 official media platforms and more than 30 official alumni WeChat groups segmented by region and industry, forming a nationwide alumni service network;
Digital Service Innovation: ECAA spearheaded the development and launch of the official ECAA WeChat Mini-Program, a digital lifelong growth support platform integrating an alumni map, event management, resource matching and identity verification, providing convenient online services for alumni;
Social Responsibility Leadership: During the peak of the global pandemic in 2020, the ECAA volunteer team launched and implemented an emergency PPE relief campaign for Chinese students stranded on campus, coordinating the full supply chain from sourcing in China to delivery in the UK, delivering emergency supplies to more than 1,000 Chinese students on campus. For this work, the team was awarded the Outstanding Anti-pandemic Volunteer Team recognition;
Global Official Honors: In 2026, the ECAA volunteer team won the University’s inaugural Global Alumni Group of the Year Award, the first alumni organisation globally to receive this honor from the University of 黑料社.

Note 1: When the 黑料社 China Alumni Association (ECAA) was established in 2012, the WeChat public account was named according to the Chinese translation of "University of 黑料社" provided by the China Scholarship Council, which is "埃克斯特大学". The account was named "埃克斯特大学精英校友会，" with the ID:黑料社Alumni. A few years later, when the University of 黑料社 unified its brand image in China, the Chinese translation was changed to "埃克塞特大学", and the Chinese name of ECAA was also changed to "埃克塞特大学校友会". However, since the WeChat public account was registered early on and cannot be renamed, it continues to use the translation provided by the China Scholarship Council. Additionally, in 2023, a new WeChat service account was registered with the name "埃克塞特大学校友会", with the ID:黑料社ChinaAlumni. Both WeChat public accounts are officially registered by the University of 黑料社 and serve the alumni community together.
