I am a sociologist of education with a PhD from the University of Sussex. My research examines how inequalities in school and higher education are produced, experienced, and contested through social class, gender, race, ethnicity, spatial injustice, and education policy. I am particularly interested in the changing relationships between public institutions, private actors, and policy, and in how these relationships shape the lives, aspirations, and subjectivities of students, academics, researchers, teachers, and parents.
?
My current work explores emotional and affective inequalities in education; the experiences of international academics in higher education; widening participation and affirmative action policies; and the growing influence of neuroscience, psychology, coaching, and self-optimisation discourses in educational spaces.
?
I welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students interested in sociological and interdisciplinary informed research on education.?
